About Us

The passion we share for celebrating each holiday with grand style and enthusiasm and our love of thoughtful gifting and the timeless memories it creates led us to open the Fancy That! boutique in 2007. After a successful career in the Entertainment Industry that spanned 35 years for Jim, and 20+ years at home raising our four daughters for Paula (with 10 years in Marketing and Special Events before that) we approached this new adventure with high hopes, lots of grit and a well thought-out business plan outlining our mission, goals and objectives. In pretty short order Fancy That! established itself as the go-to store for holiday decor by providing creative ideas and unique products that empowered customers to define their own personal style for decorating their homes for every holiday.  Paula’s knowledge of design and visual display and Jim’s ability to design, build and repair just about anything made Fancy That! a magical place to shop all year long.  After shopping to-the-trade-only showrooms in Atlanta, Dallas, Las Vegas and Los Angeles Paula and Jim discovered a special talent for finding spot-on gifts for all those hard-to-buy-for people who seem to be on everybody’s list. From special occasion celebrations like Birthdays and Graduations to Weddings, Hosted Events and Holidays, you could always find the perfect gift at Fancy That! Life was good except for a sputtering economy and the one business plan objective we still had to meet: build a website to reach a larger audience. Seven years later the economy remains virtually flat, we never found the time to build a website and the business of retailing made a huge shift from brick and mortar stores to on-line shopping.  We took a long, hard look at our business at the end of 2012 and, after much soul-searching, concluded if you can’t beat ’em, join ’em. We decided to move our business to the on-line shopping arena in 2013.  We closed Fancy That! on July 31st and together we worked on building the website virtually every day until its launch on December 12th 2013 — so much for building a website while running the store! Welcome to Something Very Special We are very excited about FancyThatStore.com – now, in its humble beginnings and where we intend to take it over the next twelve months.  Count on us for a unique and fanciful shopping experience where you will continue to have access to “the best of the best” in specialty gifts and magical decor, but this time around it will be from the comfort of your home.
